How does Lidar work?
I went past one of those mobile speed cameras earlier, the kind that is set up on a tripod with the two big lenses looking up the road.
When I went past I may have been a little over the speed limit, but the operator seemed to be texting on his mobile phone.
So the question is, does the operator need to be looking through the device to work it? or can he just set it up so that it catches everybody (speeding) going past, regardless of what he is doing.
Thanks in advance.

They do not need the operator to manually operate anything, unless you happen to be on a motorcycle (no front plate).
But remember they do not prosecute for 1mph over the limit. The usual threshold is 10%+2mph.0 -
How do you know he wasn't operating the camera via the phone.0

Though this in part is to deal with the inaccuracies that speedos can have... urban myth has always been that speedos are set to be slightly cautious (ie read higher) but that isnt to say all will in all circumstances. I know when we had the car, tomtom and satnav on the phone all three would given 3-4 mph different speed readings at any given timeAdrianC said:

I may have been a couple of mph over that, may be 38 (under 40) in a 30AdrianC said:They do not need the operator to manually operate anything, unless you happen to be on a motorcycle (no front plate).

Only if you supply your own biccies, courses have been online only for the last year or so.AdrianC said:Worst case is probably half a day of tea and biccies, then.1 -
Probably, I did one before, about 5 years ago, so I should be alright to go again, but still a pain in the prov
