Hi

Could someone please help me find the spec for the above car? .

I'm wanting to know if it has cornering lights?

I've tried Google but it keeps taking me to newer models, and it's the 2018 version I need to know about.

Many thanks if you can.

  • I’m pretty sure it doesn’t and, to be honest the one I drove didn’t need them.

Pretty sure it has lights on each corner....
  • Can I ask why do you think ‘cornering lights’ are important?

I was driving the car on a country road for the first time (in a long time) last night. Turning on the bend was really strange as usually the corner and road I'm heading around is lit up, but it was only my front lights that were on - so when looking into the corner it was dark, not light.

I called the garage this morning, as it was in about 4 weeks ago to see if it was a switch or something to turn on (i had no idea), and they said the car never had them 😂.

I had an i10 premium before this i10 go which had corning lights and I can find the spec for that. I'm convinced this car had them, but maybe I'm thinking of my old car.

So I just want to find a 2018 i10 go spec.

"Cornering lights" just turn one front fog light on.

If you think you want that short, wide spread of light... turn the fog lights on.

I thought they were called cornering lights or static corning lights 🤔.

It's the lights which come on when you turn your wheel so far to the left or right going round a corner - a side light comes on to light up the corner.

*I've just googgled and yes it's static cornering or cornering light.

It's the lights which come on when you turn your wheel so far to the left or right going round a corner - a gnat light comes on to light up the corner.

Yes. Now put the front fog lights on... oh, look, both come on!

The only "cornering" thing about them is that one comes on when you turn the steering wheel.

Good plan, except having your front fog lights on when the conditions don't require them is an offence (or at least it used to be).

    Indeed.
Which just shows how pointless those cornering lights are.

Clue: If conditions are such that having the front fog lights on would inconvenience other road users, then sticking one on as you turn the steering adds nothing to your visibility.

Actual legislation, btw, is RVLR reg 27.

    https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989/1796/regulation/27/made

Type of light - Manner of use prohibited

    Front fog lamp

(a)Used so as to cause undue dazzle or discomfort to other persons using the road.

(b)Used so as to be lit at any time other than in conditions of seriously reduced visibility.

(c)Used so as to be lit when a vehicle is parked.

"Cornering lamps" are not covered by RVLR at all, except under...

Any other lampUsed so as to cause undue dazzle or discomfort to other persons using the road.

So if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then...
