Looking at a 2nd car car: delay in registering with DLVA

Hi,

I've booked to look at 2017 vehicle with 67 plates that was first registered in the UK in May of this year. The HPI says previously used or registered abroad before first registration in the UK.  It has low miles for 17 (<15k) for its vintage however looking at service records it was serviced in the UK (London) dealer so it does not seem it was a foreign car. It has no under the export marker on HPI report. It's also been on the forecourt since end of June which is strange and is also £1-2k less than similar milage vehicles. This could also be due being interior (I know most people here prefer black) but just being a little paranoid. Passed MOT in June. Should I be worried?

Thanks

"67" plate is correct for a 2017 car.  However, is that just the year of first registration in UK?

When was the car first registered abroad?  Is it actually an older car than 2017?  (I am not knowledgeable on how this process works.)

"no" under export marker on the HPI report seems correct.  The car has not been exported.  It has been imported.

Used imports get an age-related plate to their actual date of first reg in the source country, not a current plate for their UK registration.

The V5C will have two dates on it, which will also be shown on vehicle enquiry - https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/
First reg (2017, wherever in the world)
First reg in UK (import to UK)

VE says this for one of ours (on an 02 plate)

It has been exported... Just not from the UK.

As for "anything to worry about"... Like what? I presume it's not under manufacturer warranty any more, so no issues there. RHD? Happy with the spec? Something that parts are easily UK available for?

It may not actually be an import - UK military-owned vehicles (and, yes, they run and register cars) are not DVLA registered, so look to be imports post-release.

Here is the information from DVLA:

Date of first registration: November 2017
Date of first registration with DVLA: May 2021
    Year of manufacture: 2017
Date of last V5C (logbook) issued: 11 May 2021

    Another vehicle check report indicated:

    Registration PlaceWimbledon / London
    Registration Date31/12/2017
    Keeper Start Date01/05/2021

What interesting is that the car was services at 8k and 13k in London so interesting why it was registered with DVLA first time in May this year, effectively before being sold to the used care forecourt.

I will ask the dealership about the history of the car just something that to confirm if common.

is there a good background check that I can/should pay to find out more information before going to make the purchase?

It may have been previously registered in Jersey, Isle of Man or similar.

Or bought in Germany by a squaddie.
