Are built-in and built-under ovens interchangeable?

So, after days of scrubbing, we have come to the conclusion that the oven in our new house can't be saved.
There are two electric ovens side-by-side under the worktop. One is a large single, fan oven. The other is a double oven with grill in the top and small oven underneath.
Looking online, there are far fewer built-under ovens than those classed as built-in and I wasn't sure if they were interchangeable or not.
We can't decide if it will cost more to have everything ripped out (including the worktop) and put a freestanding cooker in or if we should just replace the ovens and keep the existing gas hob, which does work.

It depends whether you're looking at single or double ovens. All single ovens are pretty much interchangeable but double ovens vary in size between built-in and built-under. Built-in double ovens tend to be around 90cm in height which will be too tall for under a worktop whereas the built-under equivalent is usually around 70cm in height. Widths are generally standard across all ovens.1
