Day 5 test processing on weekends.

Hi all,

I’m wondering about weekend processing times for Day 5 tests.

I’m currently on day 1 of a 10-day self-iso, having arrived from France yesterday.

IF it’s possible to add a day 5 test after already ordering the day 2&8 one, Friday is day 5 so I could do the test first thing and pop it in the post that morning.

Does anybody know whether the labs actually processing these are open Saturday/Sunday the same hours as during the week? If not I may as well wait until day 8, since I’d only get my results then anyway.

I looked at the Randox site and it was inconclusive.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Matthew

Depends on where you go... Mrs had her test done at midday Saturday at a clinic and test result was in done by 6:30pm Saturday.

You can add a day 5 test if you want but have to do a new passenger locator form (from scratch :( )

Most the places I spoke to said they dont take deliveries at the weekend so something posted Friday will get to the lab on Monday and will be Monday/Tues for the reply.

They're private labs so it depends on who you go with. Having said that, PCR tests have an expiry if not tested fast. How fast, though, I do not know.

Your best guarantee is a same-day result testing site.

Thanks for the replies. Great food for  thought.

By chance is there a list of same day testing sites anywhere? I’m in north London.

At the test to release page there are plenty of options but processing times are not indicated. On the other hand googling it makes the whole thing seem like the wild west.

Its a case of working through the government list... DocTap have next day for £99 and same day for £149 which includes weekends. They promise by 2am (despite the same day) however Mrs' was done by 6:30pm - on the plus side, if they miss the timescale they give a full refund.

Did see one that was slightly cheaper for next day inc weekends but had no same day option.

I do not know unfortunately. Hopefully someone from the London area can confirm somewhere. Here's one I found from one quick google of 'same day result pcr test london'. You obviously need to ensure they're approved for Day 5 testing.

If you can get to Heathrow there is Collinson and Express Tests who have labs working 24/7
  • I noticed Collinson have tests at Kings Cross, which is fairly close. It would be £95, the same price as my other two tests combined. Not cheap but I guess that's what these things cost.

Daughter had her day 5 done this morning (8am). Randox at one of the airports. She's not had an email yet. She was hopeful of getting a result within 12 hours so booked her 2nd covid jab for this evening, which she's just had to cancel.

  • Welp now France is off the 10-day quarantine list. Not sure what this means for us who arrived before then.

Daughter got her negative result back yesterday just over 13 hours after having it.
