Getting multi-driver car insurance for one car - anyone managed this?

Hi all, I have searched the forum for this but not found anyone who's really managed to do what I'm looking for.
I have an aged ford fiesta which is basically worthless in cash terms but soldiers on very reliably. We use it fairly rarely - about 3000 miles a year and my comprehensive insurance on it was about £120 for me and my partner - we're middle-aged and low risk.
Because we use it so little we started adding various carless friends so they could use it when helpful. Insurance is now £240 for us plus 2 other people, they pay the extra insurance and it's worth it for them.
We have very nice neighbours who would also like to use the car sometimes but I can't add them to my policy as it only allows a total of four named drivers. So what I want is a policy that - ideally - just lets anyone use the car (with my permission) or allows perhaps 6 or 7 named drivers. I assumed that this would be quite easy to find but I spent half a day yesterday failing to find any company that even did this kind of thing - except commercial policies for businesses with vehicles.
It seems odd it's so hard! What have I overlooked? We're all pretty much boring middle-aged people (a couple of them are youngies, ie in their mid-30s) I would have thought we'd be a fairly good bet for an insurers. It also seems lie a fairly normal kind of situation to me - a good way to share an under-used resource.
Does anyone have any ideas where I could find this? Is there a broker who specialises in this?
Thanks for any ideas....

I don't know if you've tried Saga? I know that my parents had a car insured with them, that covered any driver over 25 years old. Might be worth a phone call......#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661

What you are wanting is an any driver policy but unfortunately they are fairly rare these days and so you are probably going to have to hit the phones as cannot remember any website offering any driver quotes in recent years.
They will allow any driver will a full licenses for over 12 months drive the car as long as they are over a certain age, some are 25 a few are 21.1
