Transfer from CC to Bank Account

Hi guys,
I'm looking to buy a car paid mostly from a bank account but need to have around £1000 on a credit card which I'll then balance transfer to a 0% one.
I know drawing cash on a CC is a big no-no but could I do it and immediately transfer the balance so it doesn't appear on the statement or credit report? Can I even transfer a sum from a credit card to a bank account?
Some dealers don't accept credit cards and I don't want to limit my options.

Thanks in advance.

  • You can transfer a balance to your current account via a Money Transfer offer though there are fees and relies on you getting one of course.

If you spend and then transfer the money immediately before it is recorded, it'll just put your account in credit and you'll probably see the money returned, you'll still have to wait for it to appear on the card (check your app, pay as soon as it is recorded, no longer a pending) and be aware of trailing interest even for a day or two on the card

I'd always try and spend at least £1 on the credit card and walk away from a dealer who won't, that way you get S75 protection

The S75 bit makes sense, I'll ignore dealers that don't accept credit cards.
    Thanks for the response.

Do you already have the 0% card? Does it offer money transfer in addition to BT? If you don't have it then it might be worth applying for one with a MT offer.

In addition I wouldn't stress about taking money from a credit card if you need to. I do it regularly, as do many other people, when abroad, using my Halifax clarity card. There was a regular here who was drawing thousands of pounds from a credit card regularly who insisted he had never had any problems. Credit is supposed to work for you, not have you doing things to your disadvantage because a CRA may not approve. That becomes a tail wagging the dog scenario.

The issue I see is that you are trying to solve a problem which may not exist. The last 3 vehicles I have bought the dealer was willing to take £500 deposit by credit card and then the rest by bank transfer / debit card. That appears to be standard now. They may well take £1000 instead if that was a deal breaker.
