Transfer of Aberdeen Standard Life/abrdn shareholder register

I am getting concerned at the length of time it is taking to get my share holding transferred since the change in title to "abrdn" is there anybody else likewise concerned?

No doubt it will have been focus-grouped to death but it's hard to envisage a dramatic upturn in the company's fortunes arising from this, although, having said that, it's also pretty unimaginative to simply concatenate company names together on mergers!  Couldn't help a small inward smile though when driving to Aberdeen at the weekend and seeing 'ABRDN' on the lane markings at the A90 junction in Dundee....

I'm sure I should get over it, but I am not sure I want to be associated with a compamy that choses such an idiotic name for itself.

esbkr it might not be very imaginative but at least it's helpful to people when trying to track down a contact for long term investment products they might have held for decades. A few years ago we stayed at Drumtochty castle between Dundee and Aberdeen for a wedding at the adjacent St Palladius church and it was all pretty fabulous. Flying into Aberdeen we sadly didn't pay much attention to the road markings.

Point taken on tracing legacy products, but it would get very messy if all mergers and acquisitions had to retain a spot within the amalgamated corporate identity!  Current accounts at SantanderAbbeyNationalAllianceAndLeicester and LloydsHalifaxBankOfScotlandCheltenhamAndGloucester (etc) wouldn't exactly trip off the tongue ;)

As for flying into Aberdeen, perhaps we should be grateful they didn't go the whole hog and call themselves ABZ....

Going back to the original reason for the thread, the letter containing revised shareholder reference number has arrived today, so I'm now activated on the new https://www.abrdnshares.com portal, where my holding is visible as expected....

I have just done the same but can't see an option to sell (only buy, detail and dividend election options). The information that came in the letter said I could sell at 25p per share (Max £50). are they having a laugh?

Under 'Selling all your shares', the letter does include "If you only wish to sell some of your shares, you can do this by visiting shareview.co.uk/dealing" and this (separate) site does include a 'sell' button, which presumably allow selling an entire holding if desired, although, as you say, a dealing cost of 25p per share is some way beyond a joke, as is the £50 flat fee purchase cost (excluding stamp duty).

Perhaps there's some logic to having one site to view your holding and a different one for selling it, but it's far from obvious to me why they'd do that, it all seems very clunky....

Thanks. Does seem odd and will take a look. Was just trying to see if charges were the same dealing online as in the letter but from what you have said I take it that they are - unreasonable!
