So in a whole heap of trouble then! Possibly not having had an MOT? Possibly driving a vehicle that is not road worthy?? If he's dependent on a vehicle to get to work he might be out of a job.henry24 said:It turns out he pinged there thing in the police car for not having insuranceI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Or a simple admin error on the database. You've made a rather large assumption.Brie said:

Possibly! Wouldn't be the first time!!!
But if the database says no insurance what's he going to do?
More assumptions.....unlikely to have proof of insurance in the car. And if he does they look at the address on that vs what's on the license and fine him? If he can't prove he has insurance shouldn't they stop him from driving, so car may be confiscated? Albeit only temporarily?? Database may also say no MOT so on that basis I think they would take the car and make him walk, assuming they didn't take him to the station.
But I doubt we'll ever know for sure.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. The police won't fine him for the address error - at least I don't think so. Such charges are brought by the DVLA?Jenni x0

During office hours they'd ring the MIB, who may or may not ring the insurance company if there is a policy. Why are you claiming there's a problem with the mot.Brie said:

That goes to the vehicle's registered keeper rather than your licence address
Yes thanks for that (and Car_54).
For some reason I'd got it into my head that it was the vehicle registration that had not been kept up to date. I'll call it a "Senior Moment" (but in fact it was just plain inattention)!

I suspect quite a lot of people "update their address with the DVLA" when they move, but overlook that they need to do it both for their vehicle and the licence (not sure if the DVLA flags up a helpful reminder?).TooManyPoints said:That goes to the vehicle's registered keeper rather than your licence addressYes thanks for that (and Car_54).
