Central Heating: Copper vs Plastic Pipework?

If you're replacing pipework why not hide it in the wall it makes things look so much better0

Plastic pipe has a smaller internal diameter compared to the equivalent sized copper. Push fit fittings also have a much smaller internal diameter. This can be a consideration if flow rates and pressure loss are a concern over longer runs, as you may need to go one pipe size bigger.
Other than that, I've seen both push fit fittings fail and soldered fittings fail. Both usually down to installer error.1 -

Plastic trunking would be easier.laurencewhymark said:Any drop down legs (vertical pipework) will be boxed in with plasterboard.

From memory the issue was that those joints would be buried in screed and you are not supposed to do that with push-fit unless you put them in an accessible 'box'Jeepers_Creepers said:Rosa_Damascena said:The pretty pictures are on p2.
