First Direct, Halifax - DIsplay of 'desktop-based' online banking pending transaction info.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me whether the desktop-based not the 'Smartphone-App-based' portals of these banks, display 'pending transaction' data.
Also, can anyone tell me whether they operate on 'presentment file' or 'real-time auth', for debit card transactions.
Thanks.

Yes, for First Direct, the desktop version displays pending transactions. At the moment I can see a DD that is due tomorrow. This DD has not yet reduced my cleared balance.I believe a pending debit card transaction would reduce the cleared balance, but I have none of those just now.HTH0

Like all banks, they process transactions when they get reported by the retailers. Whilst this happens in many/most cases at the time you make your purchase, there are situations in which there could be a delay. E.g. if you are outside a network area (aeroplane, for instance) or if the retailers batches up transactions and submits them hours, or even days, after the purchase. Pay At Pump petrol purchases, for instance, often show with a delay.Wobbly_Bob said:Also, can anyone tell me whether they operate on 'presentment file' or 'real-time auth', for debit card transactions.1 -

If there is no network connection, they can‘t check
in most cases, there is a connection, and retailers won‘t normally sell you anything w/o obtaining approval from the bank. Note that approval isn‘t the same as you having the funds - your bank might approve even if you go overdrawn (arranged or unarranged)

I see. You appear to be describing a rather vague, inconsistent procedure, when of course in this day and age, it really shouldn't be. Which is why i asked the above question, as certain 'new' banks do appear to work to 'Real-Time-Auth'.Given that, can you please answer my original question please? Also, does anyone know how to view a demo of each banks 'online banking website', as i've looked on each banks main websites, and not found anything. I've even looked on yootoob.0

It isn‘t rather vague. It‘s how it works.4

If that isn't vague, i don't know what is!colsten said:Like all banks, they process transactions when they get reported by the retailers. Actually, it's just as vague, but uses ''usually' instead of 'many/most' and 'sometimes' instead of 'could', and is much more long-winded.

Thankyou for your comments. No-one except Vortigern had the intelligence to read my question, and attempt to answer it.Not suprising from this forum tbh.Goodbye

WOW. Brilliant. Unless your response meets with inflated expectations of the person who asks, you are not intelligent. What a way to encourage people to share their knowledge of facts.6
