it is definitely better to wait as long as possible - for various reasons, I had to do mine now or not at all.

The IFA process really tested my assumptions and reasons why which was helpful, even if it had not resulted in a transfer.

I hope everyone gets this sort of service (but am guessing they probably do not....!)

Hi there and thank your for providing a resource to use - I did manage to get advice in the end  but only because I still had a light financial footprint in the UK.

It has nothing to do with having a financial footprint in the UK.  It has to do with country of residence. Unless you returned to the UK and did it face to face (an exemption that still allows transactions to occur).  

A firm carrying out advice transactions to an EU resident who was not present in the UK at the time of advice and doesn't have an office or permission to carry out business in the EU is doing so against the law.
