  • Thanks all, we have no indoor plants so can't be from that but going to thoroughly check and clean all kitchen cupboards. Most are on the dining room chairs they are oak with leather seats as soon as I clean them they are back on there, I have put double sided sticky tape round the bottom of every chair leg and they are still there which makes me think they are inside the wood maybe? Or underneath the seat.

Try spraying them with a light mist of flea spray
  • Well it's even worse than I thought, they seem to be absolutely everywhere, even in the cutlery drawer 😭

They are definitely mites of some kind, probable mould mites which would indicate you have a damp problem.

    Are they psocids?...... https://www.orkin.com/other/psocids
  • Forget the name sorry but I had these in a flat I rented years ago, they were identified by the council pest control who told me the problem was damp in the flat, they didn't cause any issues but they're icky to see. I increased ventilation and tried to make it less damp which did help, but there was no proper heating so it was hard to avoid. Eventually moved anyway and never had the issue again. Check for damp, its not always obvious that your home is damp, but poor ventilation, especially in the kitchen and bathroom, drying clothes indoors etc can cause it

No, but the OP could have those as well if there is a damp issue.

That looks like flour mites.  We had problems with weevils at our last house.  The key to getting on top of it was to keep all dry goods in sealed containers. Hoover all the cupboards and drawers, then wipe down with a kitchen spray.  For weevils you can put bay leaves in drawers and cupboards as they don’t like the smell - not sure about mites though.

I like to use a big Tupperware box to store all my different flour together, another for sugar, glass jars for rice, couscous, lentils, dried peas, pasta, spices etc.  Lidl do big jars of pickles which are provide useful jars more cheaply than buying them specially.  We don’t bother decanting cereal as we tend to eat it quickly enough.
