Ordering Broadband before moving in first time buyer

Can I order this before I move. I've already exchanged, moving in on 20th August.
Virgin will do a credit check, but will need this all booked in so that I can work. Do I need to wait for completion or is it safe to order it now?

You will need to check with virgin as to when they will take over the line. You do not want to activate a line cancellation before you move in as your vendors will be pretty pivved.0

Speak to Virgin, they were very helpful with my move and they even sent the new router to my old address so I would have it on moving day. When I got in to the new house and plugged in the router it all worked but at a lower bandwidth than we purchased. Virgin confirmed that we were basically using the previous owners internet and that our bundle would be active within a few days. It was all really easy and there was no down time.
If your new place isn't with Virgin already then order asap as it can take months to get an engineer out to cable your property. Virgin use different cables to everyone else so this has no impact on existing services and you can even chose to run both lines at the same time.1 -
As above: it's only an issue if the existing provider is already VM.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

When we moved in, we knew there wasn't any existing Virgin Media service in the house so we could safely order a new install. There was a three to four week wait to get an install slot, so we placed an order for day after the move knowing the date could easily be moved/cancelled if needed.0

Are you talking about VM-provided ADSL, or VM-provided cable?
If the latter, is there VM cable already installed to the property?0
