I'm sorry that those who earn less feel somewhat jealous.

Everything is relative and everyone can be moneysaving, whatever their income.

If mortgage repayments are half your net income it doesn't matter whether you earn £1,000 a month or £100,000 a month. You still need to consider where you're spending and whether your budget is realistic.

Perhaps spend less energy being jealous and divert it into improving your lot - or simply being grateful for what you do have

No no dear heart I was in now way criticising your esteemed wealth. To be honest the poor deserve everything they get anyway. As you so rightly pointed out if they deserved to be wealthy then they would be. Especially with their silly misunderstanding of relativity which leads them to believe that half of a thousand buys less than half of one hundred thousand!

I was merely questioning your mathematical assessment of your situation that seems to have equated a level of disposable income greater than many working families gross income, as inadequate for your important needs, and was wondering what, perchance, you may be doing with all this money.

    Is this necessary?

Dozey mare (lol) asked a perfectly reasonable question on the appropriate forum, responded to you in a measured way and continues to get abuse from you....sorry but you are out of order.

Sorry I can't offer constructive advice Dozey...just had to but in as your light was off....I'm going back to my lurking :D
  • Is it time we set some income criteria which allows folk to post on the Boards without criticism and/or ridicule?

No, because some of the rudest people I've ever met have been incredibly wealthy, & some of the poorest were also very lacking on the manners front too. Perhaps someone should develop a system run by people who could read the posts before they appear, & either just make them disappear or turn the text into a message that says something along the lines of "translated into this silliness because they were going to be rude". :)

OP, what emotional attachment do you have to your house? No need to give details but my sister was in a very similar position to you and eventually bought out her ex husband. Financially she struggled but fixed her mortgage so she knew exactly what her expenditure was, and eventually became used to her new way of life (only one bottle of wine a week!).

However once she moved back in she found the magic had gone. She lived there for 15 years with her husband and she found the memories dfficult. She spent a fortune on re-decorating, but still isnt settled, despite being near her friends etc. She's now seriously considering selling, she's such a different person since her divorce village life just isn't for her.

    Just something to consider really.

Life can be !!!!!! no matter what your income may be. If I had 1000 or 1000000 times my current income, my life would still be !!!!!!, allbeit with more distractions. Some people get paid more than others. GET OVER YOURSELVES.
Sorry DM, take no heed of the spiteful, I'm skint, but relative to a lot of other people I have a decent wage. All relative, and I would swap the lot to be happy. So you folk who have what you want, but earn less than you'd like - would you swap all else that you have for money???

    Thought not.

Well I'm not going to argue with conviction like that. I'm not sure if it works the other way though. If you had 1000th of your current income would the inverse multiplier make your life better?

Money makes life easier, I don't deny that, if I had 1000th of my current income I would drown myself. It would be the the last straw. At least I have a nice home in which to shut myself away. I'd not like a cardboard box. However, whatever amount of money I had would not make me happy. What I want cannot be bought. Really.
