Opened desktop the morning OK, about 10 minutes later it froze, cursor moves but won't open anything on desktop, start menu won't open or allow me to reboot.

Have turned power off and on several times to no avail, just opens desktop but cursor will not open anything.

Using Firefox latest browser if that helps.

Typing this on a slow Lenovo tablet.

Need help.

    WINKEY + R

    type    cmd.exe    to open a CLI dos-box

    type  shutdown /r /d p:0:0

    RESTART AND RECORD REASON

    shutdown /r /d p:0:0

In the above example, the shutdown command restarts the computer that's currently being used and records a reason of Other (Planned). The restart is designated by /r and the reason is specified with the /d option, with p representing that the restart is planned and the 0:0 indicating an "Other" reason.

Remember, major and minor reason codes on a computer can be displayed by executing shutdown without options and referencing the Reasons on this computer table that's displayed.

    LOG OUT IMMEDIATELY

    shutdown /l

Try pulling the plug outa the wall.

Then press and hold the power on button for 20 seconds.

    Re-connect and power on.

    You mentioned a frozen cursor.

The tab and arrow keys can/will simulate a missing mouse.

However if the keyboard is non-functional (how did you login securely, type your pin/password).

Pressing F8 at power on  for Safe Mode wont work, nor will any attempt to enter the BIOS via F2/12 or whatever.

Then I don't think I am going to be much help.

Cursor moves around as per normal, but when clicking on anything including start menu will not open anything.

If you read OP you will see I am using a Lenovo tablet.

A shot in the dark, could it be the mouse?

Mouse moves cursor, left click on anything does nothing, right click opens a menu with:- View, Sort by, Refresh, New and some others, left clicking on any of those dies nothing, hovering over this menu brings up another menu, large icons, small icons, auto arrange etc, left clicking does nothing, right clicking for example on large icons changes the icons size on desktop screen.

    Maybe mouse left click failed?
