Unhappy with sofa purchased from charity shop

OP, I’d forget about the cleaning and take up the shop’s offer of a refund on Monday. You shouldn’t have to put up with someone else’s urine soaked cast-off.If you need this particular model of sofa due to health problems, maybe a charity could help with the cost of buying a new one? I know the St. Vincent de Paul society helps with this sort of thing where I live.1

Sounds like someone used the charity's collection servicve rather than pay to take something to the tip.Unfortunatly if the problem is hidden such occurs. The charity are usually happy to lose out though (as they should for not checking it thoroughly).

After about 20 hours of cleaning in total, I've given up. The smells have gone from the armrests but that could be the lavender oil, the back cushions went to the laundrette and dried outside, but the cushions have a weird smell and are still stained
Contacted the shop who are going to collect it and refund me, as I don't want to be worrying every day or sniffing the couch wondering if the smells will come back, i'm £20 down from the cleaning but lesson learned and I have no sofa, but still have an ikea chair to sit in
I'd rather have no sofa for now and I'll save up for a new one
Thanks for your advice everyone2 -
I would have taken it back long before spending £20 on cleaning!1977dave said:After about 20 hours of cleaning in total, I've given up.
