The Nest does exactly that, and will ping your phone when it does so.Jeepers_Creepers said:Are there cameras with PIR sensors so they only record if there's movement? They trap you with their cloud based recording though. £8-9 a month adds up quickly.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

When our new neighbours had been in their house a few days they did something which set their burglar alarm off. They were charging around in a panic because they couldn't find the piece of paper with the instructions on how to switch it offDoozergirl said:I'm guilty of wanting to kill any neighbours that 'allow' their alarms to go off!
Fortunately I knew the code.
That's brilliant! I hope you just walked in, pressed the buttons - chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp - and then walked out again without saying a word. :-)

we have the ring doorbell which is great and will be adding more cameras to it in the future.
I was delivering magazines a number of years ago, which included an area with newbuild housing and a show house. Normally I dropped a few off in the show house for potential new residents to pick up. One day, probably a Monday morning, I opened the front door only to hear 'beep, beep, beep' as it turned out the office wasn't open but they'd forgotten to lock the door. I dropped the magazines on a nearby desk, shut the door behind me and fortunately was some way down the street before the alarm went off. I just kept walking......... I could hear it ringing for a long time whilst I walked round the rest of the estate.

I was in Germany with a mate of mine, he knew his wife was out shopping, his phone buzzed via a sensor and he started talking to someone through a speaker above the front door, it was a delivery driver, he told the driver where to leave the parcel, he told me that he also had cameras and speakers at the rear of the house, oh BTW he lives in Essex0

I have the oldest alarm system known to man a dog!Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'0 -
I had both recently installed but I'd lean more towards CCTV.
The alarm was accidentally triggered by a faulty door contact. I was in work, got an email, text and app notification and was able to check on my doorbell cam and back door cam to see if there actually was an intruder. When I saw there wasn't I switched it off remotely. No sign of any neighbours checking to see if something had happened but at least I was alerted.
Someone tried to break into my house last week while I was asleep upstairs. He tried the back door and then walked away. I have him on camera as clear as could be. He almost looked right at the camera but didn't see it. After contacting the police I put it on the local FB group and had a name within two days.
I've been able to speak to delivery people via my doorbell cam which has been quite handy. I was also able to see when DPD tried to deliver a package meant for another address. He left a note saying "by bin", but he didn't leave it there. He changed his mind and took it with him. If I didn't have the camera I would have thought it was nicked but I could see the driver take it away.
Unfortunately on another occasion I didn't realise I initially had it on medium power saver mode so it wasn't recording when someone flytipped outside my house.0
