Packaged bank accounts

Hi I've put in a complaint about being mis sold a packaged bank account with the Halifax as they uphold I wasn't told about having to register a phone as I registered one a year later but they've advised its over 6 years ago so they don't have to consider the claim or complaint. My argument is when I phoned up to claim on the insurance I was told imy phone wasn't registered at no point was I told I could then complain I was only advised to now register the phone. I am about to escalate to ombudsman but wonder if its worth it.
Thanks
Nicky

If your complaint was time barred by the bank it must meet the criteria of 6 years from point of account opening and 3 years from when you knew, or could reasonably have known you had cause for complaint (the latter would be, for example, a letter sent to you advising the cost/benefit of the account and advising of a free alternative). If it does, then yes, they can time bar it and sending to the FOS is pointless as they cannot overrule the time barJones19n said:Hi I've put in a complaint about being mis sold a packaged bank account with the Halifax as they uphold I wasn't told about having to register a phone as I registered one a year later but they've advised its over 6 years ago so they don't have to consider the claim or complaint. This...the 6 year / 3 year rule will mean they "timebar" you as out of time according to complaint handling rules.Deleted_User said:
