Broken seagate external hard drive

We have a sea gate external hard drive. Admittedly we haven’t used it for a good couple of years. Have plugged it in today to the pc (after changing plug fuse) and it’s just flashing orange. Not even being recognised on PC. Have unplugged, restarted etc as per google and it looks like it’s broken.
What I want to know is is there anyway I can get the pictures off there or are they gone for good.
I read about installing disk drive or something but on reading further that seems to only be able to work if the external hard drive is showing up which ours isn’t..
thank you

This may be a power suppy failure or a board failure inside the caddy.Either way it may be possible to take it out and mount it inside the computer, or swap it into a generic caddy and keep using it at an external drive, but sometimes this isn't possible particularly if its been soldered to the board.4

Hi
Long shot, but perhaps it will help....
If you do get it mounted/running somehow Piriform RECUVA is very good for the price (FREE).

The drive inside the case may be absolutely fine. I would open up the case and take a look. If you are not competent to do that, you should show it to a technician. Once you have the drive out of the case, please take a photo of the connectors on the drive and post it here.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?2
