Hey folks hopefully someone can help me.
moving into a new property that has smart meters installed (probably by current supplier SSE)

the gas one looks fine, however the electric one does not appear to be showing reads as per the attached. Anyone able to clue me in here? The buttons on the unit do nothing.

It appears that pressing and holding the A button can change what is displayed too.
Lots of discussions on the net about how difficult these meters are to get readings from!

Alternatively, does the meter have a working In-House Display? You should be able to get readings from that.

Holding the A button did nothing.

the IHD only picks up the gas meter and is bang on.

Smart meters can crash, just like PCs / laptops / smartphones / washing machines can. Unfortunately the only people allowed to reboot them are the electricity company.
Have you moved in already, or are you still in the process? Are you renting or buying?
The smart meter should have a comms hub (box) immediately above it, with a handful of LEDs. Are these blinking away happily?

Have the keys, moving at the weekend.
electricity in the flat works. The lights on the comms hub blink intermittently- which from past experience is normal
the red light on the hub also blinks - I’m led to believe this indicates the meter picking up usage.

I just can’t seem to alter the display to get values, and the fact the IHD isn’t picking it up makes me think the meters had a blip

If you're renting I would expect the opening meter readings to be recorded on the inventory. Have you asked yout landlord / agent about it at all?
If the comms hub is working it's possible that the readings are still being sent to the power co and it's just the display that has frozen.
I'm sure you've got lots of stuff to do in youer new flat but you should really sort this out PDQ as you don't currently have any way to give an opening reading to your new electricity supplier!

They have recorded the bottom set on numbers as the meter reading.

Poor customer service is why SSE have agreed that customers with an unresolved dispute can go to the ombudsman after six weeks rather than the usual eight.

That's definitely not the meter reading

Try holding B and A down
Then clicking A while still holding B down
