Leasing a car whilst on probation at work

Hello all,
I am in desperate need for a new car and would like to lease instead of parting with my savings in one go however I am still on probation at work as I started this job 2 months ago after being made redundant. I can’t wait until the probationary period is over to buy one so is it worth me leasing a car or should I steer clear?

Bit risky if your not kept on after probation ends. Can you buy a £500 banger to get you around before you get confirmation of job security?0

A probationary period is fairly meaningless as an employer can get rid of an employee for pretty much any, or no, reason within the first two years.0

You have been there a couple of months, how is the job going? Be truthful with yourself.
What will you do, if they get rid of you and you have a 1-4 years of lease payments to pay? Can you cover them for an extended period?
How risk averse are you?

Plenty of good cheap cars around.
Under £1000.

The banger to get you through the probation period seems the best options here.
However, there is an alternative to committing to a long term lease (3 years) and that is a long term rental for only 3 months or so. It costs a bit more per month, but gets you a car right away and avoids the need to tie-in long term. Many companies offer this type of product, but here is one example:

Either look at a banger to get you around, or have a look at a long term rental / short term lease.
When does your probation end, in another 4 months? So a 2-6 month rental/lease won't go too badly.
