Hi, i was just wondering if anybody had found any luck with finding good coronavirus travel insurance.

The worrying things about being denied travel are:
1. Testing positive before travel
2. Testing positive at the airport
3. Testing positive whilst on holiday and having to self isolate abroad
4. Flight/holiday cancellations
5. Government regulation changes

Most policies i have found cover scenarios 1-4 however i have not found any policies that cover for change of government regulation (for example booking a holiday to Turkey and after the 3 weeks revision cycle they place Turkey on the red list, or if Turkey for some reason begin to refuse travellers from the UK during that time)

I was wondering if anybody had found any policies that cover this?

Thanks in advance

We need to make one thing clear from the outset – going forward, most new travel insurance policies WON'T cover cancellations due to future UK or foreign government no-travel rules.

No mainstream policies we know of cover cancellations where coronavirus rules mean you can't travel, or where you need to quarantine on your return and can't go as a result. Nor will they cover you cancelling if the rules will let you go, but you don't feel safe.

This is because coronavirus became a "known event" in March 2020 and insurance is usually only there to protect from unexpected events.

So whether you need to cancel because you legally can't travel due to a local lockdown being reimposed, the Foreign Office has advised against travel to your intended destination, or the country itself won't let you in, the result is the same – you're very unlikely to be able to claim on your travel insurance.

  • Can I ask what provider you have found that will cover you if you test positive while abroad? I’m struggling to find a policy that will cover if my family and I test positive and can’t return to the UK as a result. If this happens I don’t want to be left finding and paying for accommodation and flights while we isolate. TIA.

I have found a few i think OnTheBeach policy covers it and they use ROCK Insurance, and i believe LV Insurance also said the same when i read through :) Hope that helps
