New car advice on a lease
Hi all.
My company car goes back next year & I'm going to take the cash and lease my own car instead of getting a new one.
I need some advice on what kind of car to go for please. I'm not fused about badges so happy to get suggestions.
It needs to be family friendly with a big boot. Ideally an automatic and I'd like a bit of tech, I.e cruise controll, heated seats, rear camera etc.
My budget is about £290pm with mileage around 12k pa.
I've been looking at octavia estates to give you an idea on the kind of thing I'm looking at.
If anybody has got them selfves something similar on a good deal please let me know.
Thanks
Phil

Do you have to lease brand new?
If you have savings the MSE thing would be to buy a used car and just keep it for as long as it will run, pocketing the additional £290/month for maintenance/replacement and treating it as a pay rise.
Unless of course there are strict requirements on the car you have to drive?0 -
Do not look at the make/model. Be open minded and lease a car that meets your needs and is a good deal.
A great deal is monthly payments less than one hundredth of the cost to buy a new one. These deals are few and far between.

Assuming you stick with the idea of leasing (though @DrEskimo offers sensible comments about alternative approaches), there have been two threads on here recently about Skoda offering fantastic lease deals - almost too good to be true. The excess mileage rates also seem keen.
The important thing with leasing is to "buy the deal, not the car" though these deals allow you to get the car of choice anyway, so win-win. The only thing you may find and need to consider compromise is on the exact specification and options - adding extras to a lease car tends to disproportionately inflate the price versus selecting the car that the lease company / manufacturer wants to promote.

This might be one case where you could do a lot worse than simply go ahead with your first choice and still tick all the MSE boxes1 -
Should be easily achievable.
I recommend LINGS CARS, their website is a bit 'zany' but they're fantastic people to deal with.
If you see a better deal for the same car anywhere they will try and price match.0 -
make sure a garage near you can do servicing and repairs, but 2nd hand and get from a main dealer with approved warranty.0
