    I think it's interesting to understand exactly what an IFA is supposed to know and how they should operate as it will help you to pick out a good one if you every need one. If you are going to DIY invest then there are plenty of online resources and books that you can find and also look for local adult education courses. 

    People with a basic knowledge of maths and some common sense have the ability to DIY invest, they just have to learn the jargon and see past the blizzard of useless information that the financial companies spit out.
