Clearscore - incorrect information

Clearscore keeps merging my address with my neighbours' under the electoral information section.  I contact them, they correct it, and then it updates with the incorrect address again.  When I contact them, I get the same copy & paste reply - telling me that no one uses this information for credit checking & it's only a display issue.  In my mind, they are processing my data and therefore have a duty to do so correctly.  Should I report this to the ICO or does it not matter?

To clarify the address issue, say I live at 12a and my next door neighbours' are at number 12 - my address displays as "12a, 12 Street etc"  Additionally these are houses, not flats, and entirely different buildings.

this may in fact be an issue with the post office instead of simply Clearscore.

When the freeholder to the flat where the in laws lived decided to change the name of the various flats some how the in laws' flat was deleted from the post office list.  As a result any on line service always referred to the block of flats next door.  This even messed up a mortgage valuation as the idiot doing the check list said the flat was in very poor shape for a new build block when in fact anyone with a brain cell could see that it was a Victorian house that had been converted nearly 40 years earlier.

    Thank you for replying.
I don't think that's the issue - any website where I'm required to put in my postcode and select my address, clearly shows both addresses.  I even went onto the council website as if I wanted to opt back into the open register, and they have the correct address there too.
Both buildings have been here in excess of 100 years.

I'd be tempted to report it to ICO because you have tried repeatedly to get the error corrected but nothing's happened.

A report to ICO might get them to pull their socks up. What with all the breaches and tales of data being leaked that are around at the moment it is a worry.

Equifax (who operate Clearscore) had a big data leak some time ago and wrote to me to say that some of my information 'may' have been involved. Next thing I know, someone opened a credit card account in my name. Could have just been a coincidence but maybe not. (The person who opened the account wasn't very bright though as both card and PIN came (separately) to my address and I was able to report it and no damage was done. Except for me having to have a CIFAS marker on my credit report.)

You are concerned and it does matter.  So yes, do report it.

    Bump!  Any other thoughts?
  • Personally I wouldn't bother, it's probably going to take a lot of faffing around for zero gain.  They're right, this slight discrepancy isn't going to cause any problems.

Presumably though this has nothing to do with Clearscore, rather Equifax are the ones reporting it like this.  If it really was Clearscore it doesn't matter at all, they're not a CRA so nobody checking your file would see what they've got on file.  If it is Equifax you might be better off cutting Clearscore out of the equation completely.

Quick update... viewed my statutory credit report via Equifax & my electoral address is correctly reported.

However, I am keeping an eye on this thread, as it seems to be the opposite way around for some of the later posters...
