Reclaim package bank account

Does adding an insurance package for mobile phones and travel … on to your current account count as having a package bank account?

I used to have insurance added on but I remember that when I tried to claim they denied it as I had not previously registered my phone with them which they had never previously  told me that I had to do.

I would really appreciate your help with answering my question.

Does it matter?    There is nothing wrong with having a PBA or a value added benefit either way.

It is whether either was missold or not.

yes insurance can be part of a PBA.  but as already mentioned that doesn't mean it was mis-sold.

AND if you look at the T&Cs it will almost certainly say that you need to register your mobile or other devices in order to claim for them at some point.  Same as T&Cs will say you have to advise them of any medical conditions in order for the travel insurance to be valid.

I know myself how difficult it is to manage to read through all the bits and pieces and still remain somewhat sane.

Things like registering the phone aren't hidden in the terms and conditions, they are listed in the basic account simplified information, banks would never win cases at the FOS if something major like that was hidden in terms and conditions

I wasn't suggesting that it was hidden at all.  Just that there's a lot of info to look at and lots of people overlook things.

    Your wording was

"I know myself how difficult it is to manage to read through all the bits and pieces and still remain somewhat sane."

As I said, you don't need to read through all that, it's presented up front on the account information e.g. the benefits booklet that comes with the account
    paperwork
