HOW did you "accept" offer? Any conditions?
Me, I'd write a calm polite letter to them, enquiring how their plans are progressing with details of your solicitor. If agent won't forward or provide address then put it back on market:. Today!0 -
I would get a little firmer with your estate agent, they don't get paid until this completes and should be chasing a bit more than this1

You also need to take into account the huge delays in most of the conveying process at the moment.
However a phone call from the estate agents to the buyer asking What is happening RE your purchase of the property.
When is survey booked.
Name of solicitors and lenders etc1 -
Is your estate agent paid on completion? Or did you pay them their fee in advance?
Normally and estate agent will 'progress the sale' which includes chasing the buyer to get things moving - because they want completion as soon as possible, so they get their fee as soon as possible.
Having said that - what is your position with moving on? Are you buying somewhere?
If you're buying, have you had an offer accepted? Is there a complete chain above you?
Some buyers choose not to do anything until the entire chain is complete, to reduce the risk of losing money. But your estate agent should have established this with your buyer and informed you, if that's the case.

Six weeks is a long time to not have heard anything. Usually buyers want to show they are serious/willing by at least booking in a survey. They could be waiting for mortgage related issues before they start committing to paying for things like surveys and searches.Did you get confirmation/memo of sale with their solicitor’s details? It’s true solicitors may be delayed in responding but there should be some kind of movement by now.0

We put in our offer on the 28th June, accepted 29th June. Just over 4 weeks in, we have our mortgage offer and solicitor has raised enquiries. The house has been physically valued and we've booked our survey. But there's no chain involved and both us and the sellers are pushing our solicitors for a quick completion

Are you still waiting for memorandum of sale? I would put the property back on the market if so. Our first buyer disappeared like that for 10 days and then turns out they made an offer on another property and pulled out. All before memorandum of sale was produced.0

Are they waiting to be told you have found somewhere? My friend isn't having a survey until her chain is complete.£216 saved 24 October 20140

I'd be chasing the EA, too.
We accepted an offer on the 14th July and had one accepted on the 15th - we received our written mortgage offer on Saturday, and our survey was booked yesterday for early next week. Our contract and management pack was sent to our buyer's solicitor yesterday, and we're expected our draft contracts for our purchase today.
I'd want to be sure that they're progressing on their end... I think our mortgage offer was on the fast side (perhaps as we've got an existing mortgage, so are just adding to it?) but I'd want to know that they had at least got their application in, and survey booked etc, if it's been six weeks.
Unless they're waiting for you to complete the chain. We did that in March, waited 8 weeks for our seller to find somewhere to go, and then our buyer pulled out on the same day. I'm glad we took the EA's advice not to instruct anyone or spend anything then!Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0 -
In case it’s helpful as another timeline - we had our building survey done within just under two weeks from memo of sale. The sales progressor called that week to check on our progress but we had not had results then. Slight hairy moment when our sale did not complete on the day they called to check but thankfully we have now.Now at end of third week, we have had our survey back, the solicitor has had the initial documentation from seller’s solicitors, including fixtures and fittings list, and has made an initial report which I have started to go through and will respond to next week. The searches were also requested this week.I plan to update the agent’s progressor today to let them know where we are up to. I’m sure our sellers will want to know the survey was okay etc and that we will not be using any issues to renegotiate the price. All these things take time, especially searches, so to have not heard anything means the timescales are already being stretched and delayed.0
