Selling sofa on ebay, asked about delivery?! Am i safe for courier pick up?

Hi all,
I've not had any experience of the new MP way on ebay, i'm selling my sofa, which is in excellent condition, collect only. I have had someone ask if they could arrange a courier if i could wrap it some way. What on earth do you wrap a sofa with?? Where do i stand on this re ebay protection and the courier insurance etc if it is damaged in transit if buyer is arranging that? Are there any couriers who have their own wrappings for this sort of thing? As it's not the smallest thing and i wouldn't have a clue where to start.
I know there is something about a code thing for collection items but i don't have the scan feature / app thing on my phone (i have a candy phone). but could i do something for it on my computer?
Even if i did the code thing, where would i stand if courier damaged in transit? Any advice? Person is about 4 hours drive away, so 8 hours there and back. The person has between 20-25 feedback rating (both as a buyer and seller).
Any advice or suggestions?
TIA.

If I were you I would stick to collection only, and tell them no way would I wrap it anyway.

Do not bother with buyers who want to send a courier, you gain nothing and stand to lose money. As you have mentioned if they have paid via managed payments then you need to get it to them safely, why go to the bother of wrapping or getting a pallet suitable for a courier when you would have got more money doing all that for yourself and offering delivery?
You will also need to find a way of using the QR code to protect yourself and I don't think it works on anything other than a smartphone.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. That's what i was thinking that it's probably easier to just do collect only. The person hasn't bought it yet, they were just asking first about the courier...so that's good, saves me having to worry about refunding etc.
Actually if they had bought it and weren't able to collect, how would the refund process work on MP? Would i do it or would ebay do it? And would i get charged the ebay fees for it?
Is there a way to block people who can't collect from buying it?0 -

You can put on your listing that cash on collection is available , that doesn't save you any fees but does protect you against an INR. There is no way of knowing who is going to collect and who isn't, so no way of blocking them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Which way does the QR code go? Who receives the code and who scans it (buyer/seller)?1

Thanks all, really good to know how that works.
In this instance it turns out the person wanting the sofa changed their mind after they priced delivery as they said they would expect it to be at best £50-£70 so decided they'd get something else. All worked out okay in the end, thanks all.
So for any future collection items, the buyer gets the code and i can ask them for the code and enter in on ebay on my computer, or does it have to be on the APP only?

Having collected as a buyer, the buyer gets a code which they show to the seller when they collect. The seller can either scan it with their phone, or input it manually using either their phone or computer.1

Yes i read the info in the link, thanks Soolin, just wasn't sure if it could be entered on computer or if it needs to be done on the app only as it wasn't 100% clear to me on that bit, as it said on the app you enter it. So just wanted to check from others experience if it was only on the app it could be done or not. Thanks Sebsy for clarifying.0
