He has not showed up to do the work and is ignoring all my texts and calls, it has been more than 3 weeks.
Was any timescale given to commence the work?0 -
They've not "taken" £500, they have been given it with consent from the OP. Nobody has stolen anything.MalMonroe said:0 -
Mal, your giving out seriously bad advice here. Its very relevant, you have to prove intent, the builder did not steel the money. The OP is best to let the bank sort it out, or do a money claim. Anything else is a waste of time.MalMonroe said:0 -
I hate to rain on your parade. But the above only relates to card payments. Not banking payments.hansen666 said:In the disputes section in states the following:When we may be able to help:

- When you haven’t received an item you’ve paid for.
- When you received an item or service that isn’t as described or has developed a fault.
- When you’ve been charged incorrectly or twice for the same product or service.
- When you’ve been charged for a subscription fee you weren’t expecting, or after a free trial period has ended and you cancelled in advance.
Obviously it's number 3 that applys to me since I paid someone for a service (to build a concrete block building) that I have not received.

Given he already has the money, if he failed to return it on request you would need to prove dishonesty rather than intent.m0bov said:
