Quidco - technical question

Options
I started to use Quidco two weeks ago. Since then, my computer has begun to run slower and slower until it finally freezes and shuts down. I have discovered that it begins to happen once I have visited Quidco. I have monitored it with Task Manager and discovered that 100% of the CPU is being used even when there are no programs in use! I have cleaned my computer with System Mechanic and have a Virus Checker and Firewalls and have cleaned out the cookies but as soon as I visit Quidco the problem starts again. I know that there are a lot of knowedgeable MSE'rs, any technical help would be gratefully received. Many thanks.

    Hi Anna

There is a Tech Forum http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=29 , the folks on there will probably be able to help you.

I can't see it being the quidco website, you may have a hidden nasty that's causing the problems.

The people on the tech board should be able to give you links to programmes you can run that will sort out your problems.
  • Many thanks to the last two MSE'rs. Is there a way to move my thread?
  • I have noticed that some MSErs are quite terse, sometimes rude. Like the reply given to anna. Is there any need to be like this? Someone posted something in the wrong place. No one died. I'll probably be told off for posting this in the wrong place too! But I am fed up with sarky comments for what seems to be the sake of being able to shout at someone else in public (but with no one actually knowing quite who you are)!

I haven't had any problems with quidco, but I did have a problem with mutual points.com. What it was is that they had a pretty snowflake effect coming down the page, and that meant that the cpu was using all of its power to continually redraw the snowflakes as they fall. Not sure if quidco has this though?

there's nothing sinister on quidco that i can find

have you got any antivirus software monitoring cookies or anything like that running that may be picking up on all the cookies being sent.

You can't move it yourself Anna, A mod has to do it. If you want an answer quickly you could just repost this on the tech board and ask the mods to delete this thread when they get a chance

Is there any need to be like this

If people arent told that there posts are in the wrong place, the implications are that each forum gets filled with stuff that isnt relevant to the named forum
That is why MODS exist, to move them to the correct place.

This is a prime example, this is clearly not a freebie and the name of the forum that it should be in is actually in the thread title.

In time when you have been on the forum for a few more months, you will find that you too will comment that it is in the wrong place and that it should be moved.
