Search is ridiculously broken

but the search results are twaddle!
 C'mon MSE techies, we've been too long without a functioning search!

Did you search the link?
As you haven't been able to search links for awhile now, maybe even since they updated the forum.
This is why I used to love this forum, it was so easy, just search the full link.

You need to try and search the most unusual word that would come up less in the post.
Or go in advanced search, add in the person who posted it, if you know or the rough date it was posted.

This is one of the most important part of the forum though, even the non-competition sections, so I would have assumed this would be one of the problems that they would have resolved first, but I'm not sure how difficult it is in the background and with the website company communication too, as they use a third party.

Although MSE Admins, may move this to the Site Feedback section or tell you to post there next time, to keep it all in one place.

Restricting a search to the last 1 or 2 months is particularly useful while the search results are not provided in any particular order.

Thanks for your input.
This has been so frustrating - but it's not just me. Your other posts made interesting reading. Do MSE Towers really consider this to be such a minor inconvenience they can ignore it?
I've pretty much given up posting comps for fear of dupes an I know I'm not alone

It's definitely not just you GB. As you say, it has been soooo frustrating. I don't post many comps either now. Not that I ever posted lots of them, but I used to try to 'do my bit'. Now I pretty much only post ones that I already know aren't here, cos I can't suss the search thing out either. I know thingamabob, mjm and others have posted 'get arounds' but my brain doesn't work that way, so I struggle with them.

Anyway, it has to be good to tell it as we see it. I consider that 'doing our bit' too.

I'm just holding out in hope that MSE are on the verge of fixing it, as they did say they are aiming to for the end of July.
