PPI result for deceased person

I have recently secured a sizeable PPI payment as executor for someone who died over 10 years ago. The solicitor who dealt with probate originally no longer exists, my question is really about how do I distribute it to the 4 beneficiaries? I obviously don’t want to put it through my personal bank account

Can you not ask the bank to distribute it according to the will??

Just open a separate bank account and pass it though that.

Was the estate subject to IHT?

Presumably the cheque will be payable to the estate of the late xxxx ?
  • Why obviously? Just pay it in and split it 4 ways, that way you have a paper trail in case someone get shirty down the line

Provided you are not keeping it, I really don't see the issue. Father Ted won a Golden Cleric award as the money was just "resting" in his account so no reason you can't do it.

Estate was not subject to IHT, PPI cheques made out to me as I was the one who made the claims
