Hi,
My daughters Dell E7440 (4gb memory, i5 processor) has broken - We've taken it to be repaired and have been told its going to cost too much to repair and we need to replace.
I was hoping you could suggest a laptop for her....
She uses it for:
School work - She uses her Hotmail account for Word/Excel etc
General browsing - YouTube, Pinterest, Google Searches
Can you suggest a laptop for a replacement?
Currys have suggested an Acer Aspire at £500

Did they suggest what was wrong with the laptop, Dell latitudes are pretty much bomb proof.1

I was following you till you dropped the word Currys into the equation. Was it they who told you it was 'beyond economic repair'?1

"potentially needs a new mainboard & Battery plus repair cost"
I did a google search and did the "remove battery, drain power, put it back together and try turning it on" but there's no life to it. My daughter said it "just died" when she was watching something0 -
If it did the job, buy another second hand one from eBay. And then you have a set of spares for it.
Look for a reputable seller.
I've got one in bits; sadly the main board died. I will get a replacement and re-assemble at some point. Otherwise, I would offer you the spares.
A dream is not reality, but who's to say which is which?1 -
Do you mean this one from currys?

I'm not sure she needs "all" of that though....0 -

You could check out the Dell Outlet site for returns and refurbished laptops. There can be some decent deals if you are lucky.
