My post office digi check and send failed due to issues with the photo so I've been advised to get my own photos.

Any ideas how much it is to get passport photos via photo booths these days and if there is much difference between those booths at supermarkets etc.
Recommendations welcome.

Thanks

  • any reason why you can't take them yourself and submit digitally? I renewed mine online and had my "selfie" taken and submitted with no issues?

Are you saying that you submitted your application after having the post office check it??  Hopefully that means that you will get your money back.

I've used a booth at Tescos which might be as much £7 by now.  No problem with them and much cheaper than having an official passport photo done.  Because of the complexities of me renewing a non UK passport the customer service desk was happy to date & sign the photo for me which was completely acceptable.

I think the post office have them too so that might be convenient.

Yes, PO DCS service - HM Passport Office stated (via letter 7 days later) there was a techical issue with the photo (didn't say what exactly) and on speaking to them - they have pressed me to do a hard copy application and send back with photos using the pre-paid postage label they sent.

I'll be getting a refund, though annoyed by the delay.

If you paid for check and send and the photos weren’t right you may still get a refund of the check and send fee. Show the post office the letter. They may refund it.

I got a refund though they were a bit odd about - claimed they couldn't do a refund via my CC so paid in cash!
I can't complain about the HM PO end though - surprisingly efficient - down to the incognito delivery service.
