Query: Curve and Loyalty Cards

This morning, I've signed up for a Curve card. So far, so good, but I'm a bit unclear about the benefit of adding loyalty cards to my Curve account. Curve is encouraging me to do this, and says that if I do, I can leave my loyalty card at home. Adding loyalty cards is certainly easy. That's great, but how does it work in the shop?
Say I add a Nectar card. Do I then have to get my phone out at the Sainsbury's checkout and use that in some way instead of using my Nectar card, or does Curve automatically communicate with Nectar in some way and tell it "Peter's spent £30 in Sainsbury's, please give him his points"? If the former, it's pointless for me; if the latter, it's useful.

I would hazard a guess if it's anything like the nectar app, it has a barcode you can scan with the hand scanners or at the tills. You can take a photo of the card and that will scan fine though0

Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:1 -

NatWest Group (so RBS, Ulster too) have had this feature in their respective apps for quite a while. I personally don't get the point, there are better dedicated apps (e.g. Stocard).
Goes in line with other similar "features" like checking your credit score or switching services.0
