WCA

Hi

I was a carer up untill mid March when my son had to be sectioned.
I had to apply for uc and sent a fit note for three months in.

I was then sent a WCA form to fill out and had just supplied another fit note for three months.

I had a text this morning to say they had received my sick note and details of my assessment and that my benefit would continue to be paid and I no longer had to supply any more fit notes.

But I haven't had an assessment
Does anyone know what this means?

Thank you.

Paper based assessments are rare but people do have them. If a decision's been made then a letter will be put onto your journal telling you exactly what that decision was. If it was Limited Capability for work and work related activity (LCWRA) then you will receive an extra £343 per month from the 4th month of your claim, starting from when you first reported a health condition.
If it was just limited capability for work then you won't receive any extra money per month.

    Thanks Poppy.

I queried it with my work coach via my journal and to confuse me further she has said I do need to submit sick notes untill a decision on my WCA has been made.

    I think I'll give them a call.

Once a decison's made they will post the letter onto your journal. My daughters decision letter was also posted onto her journal.  If you're placed into either of the groups then no further fit notes will be needed.
The Helath Assessment Advisory Service do the work capability assessments so you may want to ring them, if a report has been written and returned to DWP they will tell you. They will also tell you if an assessment is needed. See link. It states ESA but it's the same for UC. https://www.chdauk.co.uk/employment-and-support-allowance-esa

    So, still none the wiser...lol
They said my claim was still with the medical people and awaiting a decision on if I would have an assessment or not.

But the text sent this morning led me to believe they must have made a decision...
    Just have to wait now...

I do know there's quite a backlog of people waiting for assessments, so you maybe waiting quite a while. No idea why the text message said no further fit notes required. Although your payments will continue as normal anyway.

The people that do the assessment, paper or otherwise do not make the decision, that is made by DWP.
