In the meantime, I couldn't believe that you can only complain via text message with EDF.....so brush up on your  'txt spk'..or is it all emoji they want nowadays? lighting flash, money bag and angry face I assume? Is that how it works? Gone are the days of email and letter, I must be getting old now.

I lodged complaint to EDF via Live Chat during June 2021

While I am all for moving with the times and have most of my accounts of all different natures registered as 'paper-free,' nothing beats a piece of paper a stamp and an envelope for logging a complaint.

There are all sorts of tricks to avoid logging complaints as complaints, but one arriving in the post has a much higher likelihood than others of being treated formally.

I disagree. Modern inventions such as https://www.resolver.co.uk/ are a much better way of getting a complaint lodged (and in my experience resolved quickly).

    I would generally agree

however when I lodged a resolver complaint about EDF there appeared to be some sort of issue with the complaint emails getting through to EDF

It looked as if my complaint was being ignored but when I contacted EDF via complaintresolution@edfenergy.com they said they had nothing in there inbox from resolver

they replied very promptlly via the above email address

I've no experience of resolver for energy companies, but they aren't regarded very highly on the finance forums, as they add an extra layer of complexity and generally slow things down. My only personal experience was quite poor.

How are things progressing @moto50 ?    Did the bailiffs turn up on Monday?   Are you still talking to Simone Rossi or the Liaison person ?

Have you been able to dive into the account you have been given ?

Thanks all for your replies. I have so far managed to find a rough idea of what has been happening, some of it a little odd and unexplainable but we'll run with it as I am losing the will to live.

They had sent emails and the GNE final bill via email - just not to my email address, or the one we set up with GNE account. The address they gave me was an old business email I used to complain when they C/A scammed me years ago, and one never used with GNE as that business had been moved on a long time before. Very strange. Not sure if that was linked by historic records in some way, no idea. Very Odd!

All are estimated, even the GNE which is surprised me as we had a remote meter,  but with the time passed, I plan to just do a meter reading now, and see what final settlement we can come up with. I think that will be the easiest way. I just want it resolved and move to a more trustworthy company.

At least we have some paperwork and rough explanation of what had happened. I'll work out what I think I owe and go from there.

My GNE final billing had estimated meter readings as did my initial EDF bill. Having given EDF actual meter readings, which were showing on my online EDF account, a simple phone call to EDF  pointing out their 'oversight' resulted in a speedy correction and a correct billing.
It wasn't worth querying the GNE final bill, it all 'came out in the wash' with later true meter reading, monetarily it wasn't worth the hassle.

Exactly what I was thinking. I just can't be bothered with the final bill, it is what it is and  I'll just pay it  and whatever the meter reads - I am happy with the outcome of knowing what has been going on in the last few months. It was more of a shock and worry to find out EDF were involved than the price of the bill, I just wanted an account number, clear it and get out of dodge! Hopefully it will soon be resolved. Must say though, by going through the director, they were far more helpful and got me the information I asked for. The call centre just wanted to point the finger and antagonise for some reason.
