Shipping Long Item - 2.7m

I ordered a couple of 2.7m floor thresholds from eBay which have arrived and are a poor colour match, so I want to return them.
I'm struggling to find an economical postage service that can deal with that length. I can request a return through eBay which gives the option to create a postage label with Royal Mail, but this far exceeds their maximum length. It came via FedEx, but they don't seem to offer a service for private individuals sending domestically (in small quantities).
Are there any other options that people can think of?
Thanks,

You need a "carrier" not a "courier", they specialise in transporting abnormal goods.
I don`t know any off hand, but let Google be your friend here.
Edit.
Try here, DX Freight take longer items -

Thanks for the reply Sourcrates,
DX Freight want £66 - which is £20 more than I paid for the items inc postage originally!
I might try and sell them locally.0 -
If they were not as described you can open a case and the seller has to pay for return carriage.I'm not sure if that would apply in your case as colours are rather tricky - photos on-line can give the wrong impression. Do you think what you have received is different to what was described?0

Have you contacted the seller, they might be able to arrange collection by whoever delivered them.
