MOT Results - advisories

Had my first MOT done this week and the results are in the image can anyone explain to me what I need to worry about or not worry about or if I should just sell it. Any advice is appreciated.

The first couple, "minor defects" are much the same thing as advisories - your car has passed. But they're things that are specified in the test as needing to be flagged.

    * OSF position lamp - "sidelight" - is a bit dim. Probably just needs a bulb.
    * Number plate lamps - there's a few bulbs, one or more of which is out, but the plate's still lit.

The advisories are things the tester thinks he needs to bring to your attention, but which aren't specified in the test.

    * NSF/OSR indicators. They don't look amber enough, but not so bad as to be an issue. If they're clear lenses with orange bulbs, the bulbs are probably just fading.
    * Rear coils corroded. They're grotty and scabby, but they're still intact.
    * Front tyres. Get the tracking checked, and get a pair of tyres.
    * Rear tyre. Might as well make it four tyres.
    * NSR inner sill, OSR suspension mount. It's grotty and scabby, but there's no actual holes. Yet. If you aren't running the car into the ground, get a wire brush and some paint, and give it a good once-over. Then get a rattle can of cavity wax inside the sill.

If you are running it into the ground, just keep an eye on the wear on the front tyres, make sure they don't cross the line to three points.

I saw that too, yet there is an expiry date of 3/8/22, so it must be a pass, and it only has minors and advisories, there are no major or dangerous which are fails.

That's the top of an earlier test, lower down on the page.

It failed on something, which was then resolved, and it was retested.
  • Yes it failed on some other corrosion as can see below…. I was charged £40 for the MOT and £120 for the welding … does this seem reasonable ?

I have no experience with cars whatsoever , appreciate the break down very much so thank you for that! I was just unsure as to what I could do myself so things as bbs/ lamps I can just google those surely?

The wire brush/ paint ? What kind of paint and I have no idea where those points mentioned as corroded would be 😂🤣🤦🏼‍♂️

Worth drawing attention to, if your foot slips off the clutch the car might jolt forwards, which could result in an accident.

Not a fail though even if it was completely worn.

If a tester never has a fail or advisory it could look suspicious - Wear on a Clutch Pedal Rubber just helps tick the box to say he is being thorough.
