Halifax Bank & MBNA credit card emails from Catherine Kehoe??

Has anyone got emails from Catherine Kehoe for both Halifax Bank & MBNA credit cards?

The emails look identical and has a subject line of "Keeping You and our colleagues safe" followed by the customer name.

Both are signed as coming from Catherine Kehoe.  The Halifax one mentions it's part of RBS and MBNA one does not.

Now the OH has a Halifax account as well as and MBNA cards and has received these both.  I have an MBNA and we have a joint account with RBS but I have received nothing and we haven't received anything with reference to our account.

The emails look legit, referencing our post code and the final digits of the card number, no spelling mistakes or any of the usual flags for spam or phishing.  There are a couple of links (which no one has tried) as well as a "how happy were you with this communication" click here response survey.  (again - not clicked it)

Has anyone else had similar?

Halifax is part of Lloyds Banking Group, not RBS.

Sorry - misread - it says "Halifax is a division of Bank of Scotland".

So are you suggesting these are not legit?

Are they just for information or are they asking you to do anything?

Like always, not a problem whether legitimate or not. It only becomes a problem when you start getting asked for information.
  • Yeah I've had the same emails off MBNA and Halifax, just a nice 'we are here for you' and 'we are doing our best, please do everything online' type letter, nothing requiring any action and nothing suggests to me they aren't legit, but even if they were you (like me) would surely just stick them in the spam folder?

Yes - but.  If they are legit then sticking them in the spam folder (rather than deleting them) would mean that other legit emails coming through might not be seen.

And - why would the OH get these emails are not me if we both have separate MBNA cards?

They are not asking for anything but do have links available on them.  Which I'm not touching.

If I was a spammer I might do something like this as it does look completely innocent and might lure people into clicking the links which might land a trojan somewhere.  Paranoia perhaps!

Catherine Kehoe is the Chief Customer Officer, Group Brands and Marketing, Lloyds - which includes all 13 brands within the Groups portfolio, including Lloyds Bank, Halifax, Bank of Scotland and Scottish Widows. MBNA is also part of the Lloyds group.

    More info here -

Catherine is a real person, working for Lloyds group but whether or not the emails you and your OH have received are genuinely from CK is another matter.

They are 100% legit and easy to see that. Both me and my OH have separate accounts and have both received the emails, I opened the link and it's just a 'are you satisfied with us sending you emails' link.

    Not paranoia, just being alert.

Anyway, to quote someone else (who I can't remember at the moment)
"Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you"

I had them too and considered them to be perfectly legit, with no real action required
