The prize:

The winner and guest will stay for two nights, B&B, at Billesley Manor Hotel & Spa, three miles northwest of Stratford-upon-Avon. Set in 11 acres, this grand country-house hotel – parts of which date from the reign of James I – has had a £5.6 million makeover; guests can expect fresh new fabrics and colour schemes in the bedrooms, and a health club with an indoor pool, steam room, yoga hut and tennis courts.

In the restaurant, panelled with 16th-century oak, the menu sparkles with strong, clear flavours, including crab with chilli and lime crème fraîche, and roast chicken with madeira cream.

Outside, there’s plenty of character too, thanks to a 120-year-old topiary garden shaped to resemble giant chess pieces as in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

The prize must be taken between September 15, 2021, and January 31, 2022, subject to availability and excluding September 23, October 9 and December 17 to January 3.
