Replacing panel of rear bumper

I own a Vauxhall Corsa and it is generally in good physical shape but there are a few marks and scratches along the rear bumper and are all consolidated on the same car panel at that location.

Having the marks isn't the most aesthetically pleasing and I'm concerned that if and when I sell the car the marks will lower the price.

Therefore, I am considering just replacing the whole panel of the rear bumper. Is this something that can be easily done and how much would it roughly cost? Also would I have to go to a specialised dealership or garage?

If it's a common colour, you can probably find a better bumper easily. Changing it over is easy.

Or just get your existing one painted...

Whether any effect on the price is greater than the cost of rectification is another question.

Expect to pay £50 to £100 for a second hand one in the right colour from a breakers yard or ebay. My only caution would be to go and look at it first to check for damage on the replacement. I have found over the years that an eBay breakers view of good condition ranges from truely good condition right down to cracked and scuffed off a car that's been rear ended.

Changing a plastic rear bumper is not difficult and only requires basic tools. Having the replacement to hand allows you to see where all the fixings are. If you get stuck there will be a video on YouTube (sorry I am sounding like Fred again).

This strategy is a good way to tidy up a car that is being made to look tatty by one bad panel.
