New car Road Tax confusion
I understand that for a NEW car with a list price of more than £40,000, the Road Tax for years 2,3,4,and 5 is £475. So, the list price of £40k, does it include extra for paint or is it the base listed cost?
Important as the paint would take the car over £40k and I an getting conflicting advice from different dealers on whether paint extra is included or not.

Is it not based on the OTR price anyway, rather what discount you manage to arrange?
A quick check on the vehicle tax rate tables would give you this.

It includes ALL factory-fit options. Yes, paint is among them.finwizzard said:I understand that for a NEW car with a list price of more than £40,000, the Road Tax for years 2,3,4,and 5 is £475. So, the list price of £40k, does it include extra for paint or is it the base listed cost?

It's not just new cars, it's all cars first registered after April 2017, when the CO2-based taxing changed to a flat rate with a premium for cars over £40k. The £40k figure hasn't changed since. If you're looking at a registered car, look on https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ - it'll tell you whether the premium is applicable and until when.0
