Replacement cord for lopper?

The cord on my extending lopper has perished - Lidl - so I need to get some more cord to replace it with but haven’t a scooby which one.  B&Q only seemed to have some polypropylene stuff which looked like it would remove most of the skin from my hands (I dislike wearing garden gloves unless for brambles etc.)

Any suggestions / it’s about 5mm thickness needed. 
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

    You probably want something that doesn't stretch much so effort isn't lost.
    No specific suggestions, but I found a chandlery shop to have the best selection of rope and cord  in my area.
