If you don't use your insurer's preferred supplier it may cost you more. Check your insurance documents. There will probably be a number to call for windscreens. You pay the excess and your insurer pays the rest.

Plenty of independents around happy to do the job much cheaper than nationals.If its not bonded screens are not that difficult to change.0

Aye but the OP will only pay the reduced charge of £50-£100. If you go through the insurance route though do you not havce to declare it as a claim and potentially face increased premiums at renewal?1

I've never declared windscreen claims and my renewal after replacing my windscreen on insurance didn't list it as a claim.
