GNE to EDF switch - tariff more expensive?
I was a GNE customer and EDF took over the account when they went bust. EDF told me that the tariff from them would be cheaper than I was paying with GNE until September - but I've just had my first bill and it's not.
These are the figures:
These are the figures:
EDF:
My unit rates Electricity unit rate: 14.07p per kWh
Daily standing charge: 16.20p per day
Gas unit rate: 2.663p per kWh
Daily standing charge: 15.14p per day
GNE:
Unit Rate . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 13.400p/kWh
Standing Charge 15.420p/day (£56.28/year)
Unit Rate . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.540p/kWh
Standing Charge 14.410p/day (£52.60/year)
I raised this with them before and they said it would be a credit on my bill, but there wasn't one. I've contacted them again,
Anyone else had the same issue?

IIRC EDF's promise was to make any necessary adjustments at the end of September, for customers who were still with them then. You shouldn't expect to see anything before then.

Ah yes, I've just seen the small print - "We’ll calculate your bill value from the date we were appointed up to 30 September 2021 and if there is no decrease we will apply a credit to your account accordingly."

I've just been looking at mine. It is a bit cheaper I think (cheaper standing charges, very slightly higher unit costs) but overall it's a far cheaper tariff than the cheapest on the market.
This week they've sent me an email inviting me to switch to an 'exclusive' tariff for GNE customers, fixed for 2 years, below. From my (possibly limited!) understanding this is not a very competitive tariff at all, so unless I've got this all wrong, definitely avoid and switch in september.Electricity prices: Fix Total Service Aug23v2
Standing charge (pence per day): 24.12p
Unit rate (pence per kWh): 18.21p
Gas prices: Fix Total Service Aug23v2
Standing charge (pence per day): 26.60p
Unit rate (pence per kWh): 3.589p

Like jpwjpw I was a GNE customer taken over by EDF. I'm still awaiting my Welcome Pack and today the EDF website shows my current tariff as that used by GNE ? Worse still the tariff GNE was using was dearer than that quoted to Cheap Energy Club members. GNE promised to remedy this on 17.12 20 but didn't. Phoned EDF today but the woman I spoke to didn't seem to understand the points I was raising. Said she'd transfer me to the GNW Team. After listening to a long message was asked to press button 1 to speak to someone - but it had no effect! - Kept pressing button 1 to no avail. I don't know what tariff I'm actually being charged and must decide by September whether to stick with this unknow tariff. DOES ANYONE RUNNING THE CHEAP ENERGY CLUB READ THESE COMMENTS?0 -

In answer to your question, No, not usually. There are literally thousands of comments posted on MSE every day, and there is no physical way for an MSE employee to read them all.
The Cheap Energy Club FAQ's advise how to make contact if that is what you desire:

Personally, I would urge you to contact EDF if you wish to know the details of the tariff they are supplying you on, and also to request a copy of your welcome pack which seems to have also gone awry

@mljw Was your transfer to GNE in April 2020 as a result of a MSE special. One of the selling points was that MSE would help if there was any issues. Contact them and ask them to honour the promise.

Unfortunately, Green Network Energy Limited ceased trading on 30 January 2021 and entered Administration on 2 February 2021.Robin9 said:@mljw Was your transfer to GNE in April 2020 as a result of a MSE special. Not even the MoneySavingExpert himself will be able to help anyone with that now.

When did they transfer you? I still don't have an account set up, I contacted them a few weeks ago as they owe me money as i am in credit, they said they can't do anything about it as they haven't set up an account yet. I've moved home so it's a bit of a mess really!0
