I shared a room pre covid with a woman who always took a packet of anti bacterial wipes with her to clean over surfaces. I thought she was eccentric.
Then on reflection, sensible.
I've worked in hospitality and housekeepers are often on a time limit per room. When busy you do the quickest and not always the most hygienic. 
But I'd never have thought to use the toiletries for days. Certainly not in a 5 star.
Well done to the op for coming out ahead of the game though.
