As a current Avro customer paying £76.00 monthly DD for dual fuel (using circa 3450kWH electricity and 9850kWh gas pa) and £119 in credit (exc the WHD payment) since I joined in February, the new DD using these numbers for new tariffs on comparison sites is more I grant you (for the same usage) @ £87.92 pcm. I would not entertain Avro if they wanted me to up the payments to the same sort of numbers that have been quoted to you. There are others out there so long as you know your yearly consumption.Malbur said:Received mine from Avro today, current direct debit £78.00 mthly and £150 in credit , so £786 a year in theory. New "cheapest" quote £101 per mth so £1212 anually -£426 a year rise , or 55% increase! Obviously checked price comparison sites but most coming out higher. Absolutely disgusted, gouging customers for all they are worth with absolutely no protection from the "watchdog"0 -
But you are only looking at the increase since February. Most people are reviewing their supplier after being fixed into a price 12 months ago.[Deleted User] said:

I'm with Avro and mine has increased in June from £115 to £140 per month and £150 in credit. I know my yearly consumption and it's been fairly consistent over the past few years but I couldn't find any other supplier cheaper.

Similar to Octopus - except that killer S/C for gas - I pay 17.83 p per dayRobin9 said:Ditto - Electric certainly not 55% - going up from 12.93 to 16.023 and s/c 20.37 down to 20.18 - 25% (GNE/Edf tp PFP)
Gas went from 2.4225 to 2.9918 ; s/c 19.0 to 26.25 (remained with ZOG a couple of weeks ago) - 2 year fix - about 26%
@blinkydamo - cast your net wider and forget dual fuel - separate suppliers !
my overall annual bill (dual fuel) is less than £400

My contract with Symbio ends this month. I’m currently paying just over 12p kWh day rate and just under 8p night use. 23.33 per day s/c. All plus vat. I use 9500 kWh pa. we don’t have gas. Symbio have offered me a loyalty tariff which is a variable tariff. 17.876 both day and night plus 20p S/c. Total cost £1771 pa. that’s a rise of roughly £550. The only tariff I have found to swap to that is less than that is another Symbio one but it would seem I am not allowed that. If I log in to symbio to see what’s available to me there are only 2 tariffs, the one above and a more expensive one. Yet if I search as a new customer there are a lot more, including one that works out at less than £1500! (Incl vat)0

In theory, you could switch from Symbio to any other supplier on a rate with no exit penalty - then once the switch is completed, after say 2 weeks, do a switch back to Symbio as a new customer. Yes it's possible Symbio's system picks up that you were a former customer and not offer new customer rate - but somehow I don't think their systems will be that sophisticated. Good Luck1

Great link - thanks for posting[Deleted User] said:
To put these rises into context: wholesale prices account for c. 40% of the unit price that we pay. If you look at the righthand column of the link below, you can see that on this day a year ago that the wholesale price of electricity was 3p/kWh: today it is 9.733p/kWh. As I post, Ofgem is currently consulting about adding the cost of providing energy supplies to EV charging points to all our bills - and they have yet to address the costs associated with Net Zero.

(Incl vat)Reply today via email:With regards to your query we would like to inform you this is the best compatible tariff offered. The tariffs advertised on the main website are promotional tariffs which are available to new customers customers only. Previously we used to offer you the option to choose a cheaper tariff, however we have changed our policies and can only offer you renewal variable tariffs. However If you find any cheaper tariff in the market you can switch supplier.0

10.26p per kWh elec, and Gas at 1.995p both inc VAT .
the trouble with getting such good deals last year is the jump is even higher.Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
Best fix a year ago 11.46 (Symbio). Now, 16.40 (Neon Reef); 42% increase. Symbio wanted over 18p for their renewal.
Looking at what's coming, I'm glad I fixed now.0
