If I switch to a single Electric supplier what happens then?

You will still be liable for a standing charge unless and until the meter is physically removed and the gas supply capped.Removal is the only way to stop the standing charge and for the work involved there is a charge.0

If you switch to a single electric supplier, your gas supply will remain with Avro and you will continue to pay them the standing chanrge.lynxdpa said:If I switch to a single Electric supplier what happens then?

If you switch your gas supply contract to Octopus, they have been removing gas meters for free. There are no exit fees.0

If you are a tenant make sure that the landlord is happy for the gas meter to be removed and the supply capped. There is a substantial cost with reinstatement, a lot more than a few years s/c !Dolor said:If you switch your gas supply contract to Octopus, they have been removing gas meters for free. They have been doing that for their existing electricity customers wishing to terminate their gas supply, I wouldn't suggest it was a viable route to have people try to switch their gas supply to Octopus just to get a free termination...[Deleted User] said:If you switch your gas supply contract to Octopus, they have been removing gas meters for free. £95 sounds fair. Try getting any trades person on site to do some work for less. Why should they come and work for free?lynxdpa said:MY utility company Avro wants to charge be £95 to remove my gas meter because I no Longer use gas but was previously on dual fuel, they didnt install the meter so why charge me for removing it why cant they just secure it.

Then Avro will still be your gas supplier.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
